Apply For Membership
Generally speaking admission into the competitive squad is from about 7 years and upwards. Swimming is a young sport - the earlier you start, the greater the potential. You must have the will to train regularly and be keen to compete in galas (min. age 9) but most of all you must enjoy it!
The squad is divided into three broad training groups, Development, Junior and Senior. Each group has two sub-divisions. In order that your child is allocated a spot in the correct group he or she must be assessed by the Chief Coach. Assessments are held on a Thursday or Sunday evening. At the end of the assessment the Chief Coach will give written and verbal feedback and you will be directed to the Club desk for the appropriate paperwork.
The cost of membership is £35 per annum payable on joining and then in January each year. This covers the fee which the Club must pay to the ASA for each child together with administrative costs. In addition there is a monthly training fee of £28 (Development) or £33 (Junior & Senior) payable by standing order which covers the cost of pool hire and coaches' fees. This fee entitles your child to swim in as many sessions as are available for his or her group.
