Guillermo gives it his best shot

Guillermo still looking cheerful after his day at the races!

Another of our swimmers competing at the London Region Disability Championships was Guillermo Romero (S13 classification). He was up against a very tough group of guys which included a Beijing reserve and 2 of Team GB Paralympians.

Just like Jessica, Guillermo's results were adjusted to BDPoints conversion. He went for glory in the 50 and 100m Freestyle. His weaker event (the 100m) was first which gave him a good warm-up.

In a time of 1:30.22 Guillermo came a very creditable 6th place. We know he can improve considerably on this time with more match practice at this distance.

He had a good recovery period to really give it a go in the 50m Free. He was agonizingly 4th in this event in a time of 36.30. It could have been quicker but for a shaky start.

Afterwards he said to his coach, "Oh well Ian at least I gave it my best shot." He certainly did!
