Performance Squad
Normally swimmers are promoted from the Top Squad group or may be newcomers to the club from other sources who can demonstrate sufficient skills.
Members must be able to demonstrate competence on all four strokes and IM.

Entry Criteria
Swimmers must:
- be within 5% of National qualifying times in at least one event
- have reached County finals
- have qualified for District Championships
- demonstrate a strong track record of entry into Licensed competitions
- be prepared to undergo test sets
- minimum age - 12 years as at 31st December
Squad Profile
This is the ultimate group within the senior squad with serious competitive involvement. Advanced stroke technique skills are taught. Swimmers are expected to attend dry land based session on a regular basis (13yrs & older). Swimmers will be introduced to the full range of complex training methods including anaerobic sets. Swimmers are expected to swim four times per week but advancement to the top level will be achieved by attending more sessions. There are six sessions per week available to members of this group. Core strength endurance work is paramount. Swimming volumes including medley work are in excess of 25kms per week. The correct in the water starts and turns are mandatory at all training sessions. Stroke and distance specialization will begin. Swimmers are expected to maintain records of achievements and attend goal setting sessions.
Swimmers will be expected to enter external Licensed meets and open events County and District Championships. They will be prepared for qualification into National Championships.
As a guideline swimmers would be expected to be full County Championship finalists or title holders and have qualified for District championships.
This group is equivalent to the LTAD model level known as Training to Compete
